Communication and Job Skills
The Communication & Job Skills program at BiG Heroes supports adults with special abilities as they build the skills needed to communicate effectively, collaborate with others, and navigate workplace expectations with confidence. Through structured, hands-on learning, participants strengthen essential skills that support independence, self-advocacy, and readiness for meaningful employment and community engagement.
What Members Experience
Members engage in practical activities designed to reinforce clear communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and responsibility. Through guided practice, members work on skills such as following instructions, expressing needs and ideas, managing time, and interacting appropriately with peers and supervisors. Learning happens in a supportive environment where repetition, routine, and encouragement help members build confidence and apply skills consistently.
Why This Matters
Strong communication and job skills are foundational to independence and long-term success. This program helps members develop the tools needed to participate more fully in their communities and prepare for future employment opportunities. By building confidence, strengthening interpersonal skills, and reinforcing workplace readiness, participants gain a greater sense of autonomy and the ability to advocate for themselves in everyday and professional settings.
